Joanne Bergson 1.03

Lorena Oliveira happened to be back in town and said she could meet Joanne at home after she was done with a magazine campaign photoshoot abroad. Joanne used to babysit her daughter, Zoe Luna. Originally from Brazil, Lorena has deserved the respect of the whole who’s who of the fashion world. If anyone had access to anything, it would be her.

Our Heroine’s request wasn’t a walk in the park though.

“The list you want, I can give you tomorrow. I’ve got to update it after this trip. But about streaming technology, wouldn’t your sister be of more help? That’s… what she does for a living.”

“She can’t know I’m becoming one as well.” Lorena looks at her, who was accidentally separated from her twin sister at birth, trying to understand.

“You must have your reasons, Jo, and I’m not the one to scrutinize them. But I’ll do something for you. Tom has a friend called Bill Dryller.” She divorced Thomas Greene about a decade before. “If there’s anyone who can get you what you want, it’s him. I must warn you. He’s been through some tough times lately, and he’ll find you very attractive.”

“But he’s decent. Right?”

“I don’t know. He built Zoe's computer from spare parts. He’s sweetheart. Unless you cross him.”

“You don’t say…”

“Two years ago, he had a witchy girlfriend. At a distance. She put a bad juju on him after a while. One day, Tom went with some skanky journalist to stop him from murdering the woman and almost died on the way back.”

“Might that journalist be Genevieve Meier by any chance?”

“The one and only…”

“Oh, my God! I went to High School with her. She told me all about it last time I was in the city. That is wild! She said she felt the witch's presence. As if she even caused the accident. She also said that Thomas fell into a coma. I didn’t know it was your Tom!”

“It’s been a while since we’ve talked, Jo…”

“I’m so sorry…” Joanne really meant it.

Tea was a little too bitter that day. Even though it wasn’t her fault at all, she experienced an intense amount of guilt. Still, she felt confident in her plans and decided to carry them out at all costs. The way she saw it was that no one else is doing anything about it. Having Bill’s phone number, he was one step closer to her goals and there was no one in the world to stop her. They would never know what hit them until it was too late.
